Do you need motivating?
I spoke about motivation briefly in the Business Plan page. I know that motivation is one of the biggest components of driving successful people forward. However, Tony Robbins said it best when he was describing why motivational CD’s/book/courses make us feel better without us taking action (I am paraphrasing):
When we feel down about a specific aspect of our lives (say Money), we sign up for a course or attend a seminar, or buy a book about resolving the problems we have. Buying that course makes you feel better. Taking that course makes you feel so much better. Now you feel like the world is your oyster…..like you can overcome your issue and do anything……….until…….?
Until you refuse to take action!
Once you refuse to take action, you eventually end up in that place you found yourself before taking the course, or reading the book, or listening to the CD’s. Now you have to go and sign up for a course or attend a seminar, or buy a book, and so on, and so on, and so on.
Take action and fulfill your potential

Do you understand what your potential really is? If not, DO SOMETHING, and you will find out.
I was never a Michael Jordan fan growing up. I was a Lakers guy. Magic, Worthy, Kareem, Byron, A.C. Green, Coop, and Showtime. That was my thing. However, the more I watched “Michael”, the more respect I had for his game, and his “skill”. It wasn’t until much later that I learned what his skill really was; a never ending desire to squeeze every ounce of effort and talent out of his body every single time he stepped onto the basketball court.
I had a new found respect for Michael, and one of his most poignant phrases is as follows:
Here are some more great quotes from arguably the greatest basketball player to ever lace up shoes:
I never looked at the consequences of missing a big shot… when you think about the consequences you always think of a negative result.
Michael Jordan
I play to win, whether during practice or a real game. And I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win.

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
